About the event
This is a first meeting to explore what is needed amongst our local community of women and mothers grieving the loss of pregnancy or the death of their children.
Our culture on the whole doesn't deal well with grief  - we don't know how to be around other people's grief, and we often don't know how to cope with our own grief.
I am no expert on this subject, but I have walked my own path of miscarriage and termination in pregnancy, as well as losing my mum in my 20s, so I have some experience of bereavement and the grief that accompanied it for me. I am also undergoing a 1 year course as a Death Doula which is what prompted me to begin to explore this work more deeply with others.
It may be that a one off day together to go deep is all that is needed. It may be that a number of consecutive sessions with the same closed group of women is what is called for. It may be that a monthly or quarterly space to dip into as and when needed is more appropriate. I am open to exploring ceremony and ritual, cathartic processes, sharing circles and more. I have no fixed plans or ideas - I want to hear from you about what you feel you want and need.
I would add that whatever your loss - it is valid and welcome. It is not too big, or too small for this group. Whether it was 20 years ago, or this year; whether it was of your own 'choosing' or not; whether you feel you have grieved and 'dealt' with it, or you have pushed it to the furthest recesses of your mind. You are sincerely welcome to bring it to this group.
Please note: we won't be diving into our grief in a deep way in this first meeting  -this is more of a logistics, ideas sharing space in order to create a container for future meetings.Â
The cost for this first meeting is low and is primarily to cover the room hire. The cost may be more for future sessions to account for my time  and energy in planning and holding the group. If money is an issue, PLEASE don't let this hold you back. Get in touch, you are welcome.
