About the event
This is an opportunity to take some time away from the family and the busyness of life; to simply pause, to give space, to rest, to reflect, to connect more deeply with yourself and with others in a safe, warm and nurturing circle of women. You may cry, you may laugh, you may speak or simply listen.
What to expect
We will begin the afternoon with some gentle movement - stretching and flowing with your body's needs on the day. If you simply need to lie still, this is what you shall do!
We will then gather in our circle, with a panad, where we will begin with some meditation or mindful tea drinking and then explore some of the following themes:
- Where are you in your motherhood journey?
- What is blossoming or emerging within you?
- What do you really want?
- What do you need right now?
We will do this in the form of a talking circle, taking it in turns to speak and listen wholeheartedly, without interruption.
We will complete our time with something creative - a way of marking or expressing whatever has emerged for you - this may be in the form of writing or drawing. Everything will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own journal if you have one for writing or drawing in.
There may well be a song or two thrown in somewhere to nourish the soul too!
Some background
The early years of Mothering in our modern culture can be challenging. They can be intense and often without much relief - night and day, being available, serving, feeding, loving - and then feeling guilty when we shout or cry or want to run and hide! These are healthy responses to an unhealthy way of life. We were never designed to do this without breaks, without support, without a village around us.
My aim with this new monthly circle is to offer a space where mothers can take time away - not to escape, but to face some of the difficulties of life, in a safe, calm and supportive space. You won't be asked to share anything you don't want to, and if you don't wish to speak at all, you will be totally welcome to simply witness and hear the experiences of others, which in itself, can give us so much.
This is a space where you can bring your full spectrum of emotions, where YOU truly matter. You do not have to put on a happy face (or a sad one!) This is a conscious and constructive space for you to do your inner work of reflecting, pausing, resting and renewing yourself, ready to continue your work as a Mother.Â
About me
I am a mother of 3 children - the youngest now 5 and I have benefitted hugely from being part of women's circles throughout my life as a mother. I have been a student of yoga and meditation for 17 years now and am keen to create spaces where we can explore and share our inner worlds together with others - through meditation, talking circles, singing and simply being together, shoulder to shoulder in real life. I am also a birth doula and am passionate about supporting everyone's right to give birth in the way that they feel is right for them.
